COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater was honored for achievements throughout the past year during the 2022 American Municipal Power Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio last week.

The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities received an AMP System Improvement Honorable Mention in recognition of the Fiber to the Premise Project.

The CBPU upgraded their Hybrid Fiber Coax system with the new CBPU GIG Fiber Internet.

Officials say it has better bandwidth capacity, greater reliability, future flexibility, and increased cybersecurity for businesses and residential customers.

The project also includes public Wi-Fi spots and five community webcams.

American Municipal Power, Inc., is the nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for 133 members in Michigan and eight other states.

Combined, these member utilities serve approximately 650,000 customers.
